Baby Cribs - The Place For Babies from Infants to Toddlers to get their zzz's

The crib is probably the most important piece of furniture for baby's nursery. Look for a baby crib that has adjustable mattress height so it can be lowered as the child grows.

There are 5 types of baby cribs available, these are standard, canopy, convertible, round and corner.

Avoid used cribs as they are lacking a lot of safety features. Remember to send in the product registration card to ensure being notified of a recall. Never put a baby on soft mattresses, waterbed, or any other soft surface to sleep. The only place they should be put down to sleep is in a crib and they should always be placed on their backs.

Choose the Perfect Crib for Your Needs and Budget

Standard – these are normally rectangular, feature flat slats, round spindled sides, arched back, and sleigh styles. These are available in single drop side, where only one side drops down; and double drop sides where both sides drop down. Because of the convenience of being able to access baby from either side, these are usually more expensive.

Convertible – these convert to a toddler bed and some models even convert to a full sized bed for older kids. These may be more pricey initially, but in the long run can be a real cost savings.

Canopy – these feature four posts on the corners to support a metal frame which can hold canopies with pretty fabrics.

Round – this fashionable baby furniture provides a much different look than traditional rectangle styles, they even come with canopies for an even trendier look. They usually have only one side that drops down. Be aware that bedding may be more expensive.

Corner – these fit conveniently in the corner of the room and are designed for smaller rooms where space is an issue. The bedding for these may also be more expensive.

Make sure the mattress height is adjustable so it can be lowered as the young one grows. Your child has outgrown the crib when they can climb out even with the mattress set at the lowest setting.
